YOUR HEALTH INSURANCE

All AWA BridgeUSA exchange visitors are required to carry medical insurance for the full duration of their program dates as listed on their DS-2019. Your coverage is provided through Envisage Global Insurance and meets the U.S. Department of State minimum requirements for the J-1 visa category.

Coverage generally includes accidents and new illnesses that occur during your program. It does not cover pre-existing conditions. You’ll receive your insurance ID card and full policy details with your program materials once you’re accepted.

Where to go for care: for a non-emergency illness or injury, visit an urgent care clinic or a local doctor rather than the emergency room. Urgent care visits are faster and far less expensive. For a medical emergency, call 9-1-1 first, then contact Envisage as soon as possible at CustomerCare@IMGlobal.com.
